Curb Records made a wise move pre-releasing In Better Hands from Natalie Grant’s newest album, Relentless. The single has already earned a top spot on iPods all over. And after hearing the new hit, how can you not buy the entire record? It’s slated to release on Feb. 12 and falls into so many categories – inspirational, pop, praise and worship.

In Better Hands is stirring, captivating and Grant uses her astounding voice to remind everyone why she was the GMA’s female vocalist of the year in 2006. The diva nails it again with Let Go when she livens the album up with percussion and a beguiling chorus – one that will be stuck in your head for hours. Not that that’s a bad thing. So Long is a fun tune that won’t allow you to stay still in your seat. The trumpets, bass and back-up singers will take you back to the soul era.

Relentless is Grant’s seventh album since her 1999 self-titled debut project. She’s only gotten better with time. Unquestionably, at least one of the 12 songs on this new record will become even more popular than her 2005 hit, Held.

If In Better Hands indeed becomes her top song, Our Hope Endures will surely be a close second, thanks not only to the powerful lyrics, but because of Grant’s exceptional vocals. The song gave her plenty of big-note opportunities, which she took advantage of.

If the album has any weaknesses, it’s probably Make a Way and In Christ Alone, the last two songs on the record. They’re both filled with heartfelt and spiritual words but are not as entertaining as the other songs on the album and can’t compete. Grant definitely started the album out strong, but came to a slow, and somewhat dull ending.

But, nevertheless, this isn’t the last we’ve seen from this 36-year-old artist. A portion of the proceeds earned from the album will be used to support the Home foundation, an organization trying to fight human trafficking.
