Aaron Sledge emerges from behind the scenes with his self-titled debut release on EMI Gospel. Think Ruben Studdard or Dave Hollister.

The single, “Hold On,” is a mid-tempo, piano-laced track encouraging the listeners to dig in their heels during challenging times. So if you’re ever feeling down and you need a shoulder, lift your head up, cause it’s not over... Sledge sings. Aaron Sledge flows like a personal narrative, searing inspirational lyrics onto a mature R&B backdrop with songs like "2 Nite,” "I'm Sorry,” and “Da Light.” The album reflects mainstream R&B sounds without losing its inspirational potency, with numerous tracks strong enough to penetrate far outside the traditional Gospel reach. 

However, the project is careful to acknowledge its roots and satiates contemporary and even traditional Gospel appetites with songs like “Did It All For Me” and “City Called Heaven.” After years of successfully juggling industry credits – writer, producer, arranger, and background vocalist – for well-known artists on mainstream and gospel sides of the fence, Sledge flexes his muscles as a talented, stand-alone vocalist. He should have no problem settling into a sweet spot within this still relatively underdeveloped terrain in today’s Gospel world.
