After signing with Nashville-based Inpop records, this month's LISTEN UP [1] artist Newworldson was invited to open up the Newsboys’ hugely successful Go tour (Fall ’07–Spring ’08), showcasing their unique, kinetic style of praise and worship to thousands of Christian music fans across North America. And like their live show, their debut 11-song CD Salvation Station (released in February ’08) also mixes motion and devotion. With skills honed in the trenches, these special agents are pushing back the darkness and answering God’s call to recruit souls for His Kingdom. Their blend of pop, soul, jazz and gospel is unlike anything going on in popular music today.
Singer, songwriter, author and real life dentist are just a few titles of Bishop Leonard Scott, founder of Tyscot Records, the oldest African American-owned national gospel record label. However, at the heart of everything that he is, the Indianapolis native is a worship leader. And like King David in the Bible, he is a man after God’s own heart. Bishop Scott’s latest release, Be Lifted Up, takes his ministry as a worship leader and goal to take others into God’s presence through music, even higher.
